Tigre deficiente

In 2011 i was invited by João Dorminsky to work on a August wall calendar for his band Tigre Deficiente (A4 sized), featuring 31 of the hottest portuguese artists, illustrators and designers such as:

Afonso Ferreira, Álvaro Silva Silveira, Ana Torrie, André Caetano, André Coelho, André Letria, Catarina Machado, Cláudia Santos, Duarte Vitória, Esgar Acelerado, Joana Rego, João Bento Soares, Júlio Dolbeth, Leonor Zamith, Luis Dourado, Luis Vieira, Margarida Borges, Maria Helena, Marta Monteiro, Min, Natalie Andrade, Nuno Mendanha, Pedro Cruz, Pedro Lino, Pedro Zamith, Ricardo Leite / Marta Veludo, Rudolfo, Rui Ricardo, Rui Sousa, Rui Vitorino Santos and Salão Coboi.

The brief was to illustrate Tigre Deficiente ( the tiger character) in the summer, on the beach, having fun! Made with brush and ink, digital colors. Some process!

What shall i draw for you?

Is a warmup drawing i did before inking other illustrations for books…but i liked it and wanted to share with you.
Maybe it's about some aspects of the work of an illustrator…
I try to not think too much in these drawings, letting my lines go free.

Drawn with a loose pencil on paper, and inked with a beatiful brush with black indian ink.

Capa e ilustração do interior do meu novo livro ilustrado, “O Melro Envergonhado” de José António Franco, com desenhos de André Caetano, com apresentação a realizar no próximo dia 25 de Novembro às 18h 30 na Livraria/Café Lápis de Memórias, situada na Avenida Elísio de Moura Nº 29, em Coimbra.
A apresentação será feita pela Prof. Doutora Ana Margarida Ramos, da Universidade de Aveiro.

Também vão estar presentes a Prof. Lina Carregã, colaborando com Lurdes Breda na apresentação do livro Alfabeto Trapalhão, bem como João Conde que além de acompanhar Lurdes Breda na leitura de alguns poemas dos livros vai também tocar algumas músicas suas.

The idea behind this cover is that, in the text, the reader as to see where the punctuation could be added, making the text and the characters.

4º Encontro Nacional de Ilustração - Illustrated report!

4º Encontro de Ilustração, a set on Flickr.

Partilho com vocês a minha "reportagem ilustrada" do 4º Encontro de Ilustração que decorreu em São João da Madeira, relatada num Moleskine Watercolor Notebook, small size, com três Waterbrushes da Pentel, uma com tinta-da-china, outra com Ecoline Ocre, e outra com àgua. A que tinha ecoline usei quase em exclusivo a partir das primeiras páginas e devo dizer que me agrada bastante só o traço assim, fica com um ar mais leve!
Também usei um lápis mágico e aguarelas em stick para os desenhos do concerto!

O mini chapéu foi uma das inúmeras ofertas aos ilustradores neste encontro e apenas posso dizer que foi um evento de se TIRAR O CHAPÉU e que espero que possa voltar à 5ª edição!

I'm sharing with you my "illustrated report" of the 4º Encontro nacional de Ilustração taht took place in São João da Madeira, made in a Moleskine Watercolor Notebook, small size, with three Waterbrushes from Pentel, one with indian ink, other with ocre Ecoline, and another with water. I did enjoy using the ecoline, it gives the lines a lighter look that with indian ink! And it plays well with the color of the paper. The mini hat was one of the presents that were given to the Illustrators in an event of TAKING THE HAT OFF, and that i hope i can return to the 5th edition! These are the thumbs, and by cliking it you can see all of them in a bigger size! Take care, André
