Sem Palavras in Bologna's Book Fair

My book "Sem Palavras" is one of the 100th displayed on Portugal's Stand of Bologna's Children Book Fair!

This year Portugal is the invited country in Bologna's Fair. Beside exhibitons, conferences and more on the fair, it has a selection of books in his stand. To find out more go here, http://www.portugalbologna2012.com/

And i have a book of mine, Sem palavras, written by Eugénio Roda and published by Porto Editora that i illustrated in 2010, which is about a writer who lost his words, and will begin a journey to find them again…

ANDRÉ CAETANO E JOÃO RAZ NA BEDETECA BEJA

No próximo dia 10, sábado, às 16h30, inauguram na Bedeteca de Beja (1ºandar da Casa da Cultura) as exposições “André Caetano” (Banda Desenhada), e“João Raz” (Ilustração). Dois talentos emergentes da banda desenhada e da ilustração nacionais que não vão deixar de surpreender quem visite a Casa daCultura!

O trabalho de João Raz, nos blogues joaoraz.blogspot.com e razael.synthasite.com, e em facebook.com/joao.raz.
Os autores estarão presentes na inauguração das exposições para satisfazer a curiosidade de quem lhes quiser colocar algumas questões.
As exposições estarão patentes ao público até dia 28 de Abril.

Ricardozine - A fanzine for Coimbra's Fanzineteca

On December 28th 2010, me and some friends and other people gathered around in Arte à Parte place in Coimbra, Portugal for drawing and collage to do a fanzine called Ricardozine.

On February 4th the Fanzinoteca (Library of Fanzines) was presented and also the Ricardozine. Here's a collaborative piece i've the done with Guilherme Albino and Miguel Ruivo!

Tigre deficiente

In 2011 i was invited by João Dorminsky to work on a August wall calendar for his band Tigre Deficiente (A4 sized), featuring 31 of the hottest portuguese artists, illustrators and designers such as:

Afonso Ferreira, Álvaro Silva Silveira, Ana Torrie, André Caetano, André Coelho, André Letria, Catarina Machado, Cláudia Santos, Duarte Vitória, Esgar Acelerado, Joana Rego, João Bento Soares, Júlio Dolbeth, Leonor Zamith, Luis Dourado, Luis Vieira, Margarida Borges, Maria Helena, Marta Monteiro, Min, Natalie Andrade, Nuno Mendanha, Pedro Cruz, Pedro Lino, Pedro Zamith, Ricardo Leite / Marta Veludo, Rudolfo, Rui Ricardo, Rui Sousa, Rui Vitorino Santos and Salão Coboi.

The brief was to illustrate Tigre Deficiente ( the tiger character) in the summer, on the beach, having fun! Made with brush and ink, digital colors. Some process!

What shall i draw for you?

Is a warmup drawing i did before inking other illustrations for books…but i liked it and wanted to share with you.
Maybe it's about some aspects of the work of an illustrator…
I try to not think too much in these drawings, letting my lines go free.

Drawn with a loose pencil on paper, and inked with a beatiful brush with black indian ink.

Capa e ilustração do interior do meu novo livro ilustrado, “O Melro Envergonhado” de José António Franco, com desenhos de André Caetano, com apresentação a realizar no próximo dia 25 de Novembro às 18h 30 na Livraria/Café Lápis de Memórias, situada na Avenida Elísio de Moura Nº 29, em Coimbra.
A apresentação será feita pela Prof. Doutora Ana Margarida Ramos, da Universidade de Aveiro.
